You may be wondering if Manuka Honey is good for Cold & Flu & COVID-19
There are many therapeutic benefits of honey that has been well researched. Manuka Honey is widely known for its bacteria fighting and wound healing benefits. Particularly for treating burns and fighting antibiotic-resistant strains of Staphylococcus.
Anti-viral properties
Research is now focusing on the antiviral properties of manuka honey on viruses such as cold & flus, influenza A and influenza B, H1N1 and COVID-19. We have linked to a few studies and articles below.
When your immune system is run down from a virus, opportunistic viruses and bacterial infections can take hold of you. By incorporating manuka honey into your daily diet, you are encouraging a healthy immune response and lower the chance for bacterial infections to develop. Including manuka honey in a nasal wash can also combat viruses and bacteria that may be present in your sinuses and nasal passages.
Whilst we aren’t able to offer you medical advice (please always see your health practitioner for professional advice for your chronic or acute symptoms) there is growing antidotal evidence and numerous studies focusing on the powerful inhibitory properties of manuka honey on viruses.

“Honey as a potential natural remedy against COVID-19: pharmacological insights and therapeutic promises” – A highlight from the review article:
“Various micronutrients have been found to be essential for immunocompetence and among them bioactive components especially plant derived such as polyphenols are very important reduce the release of inflammatory cytokines 102,141–144. In a case study it has been observed that polyphenol-rich environment can efficiently activate local immune suppression and tissue repair mechanisms and as honey is rich in these bioactive compound, it can be concluded that honey can have a possible role in alleviating pain of COVID-19 infected patients but this needs further clarification through clinical trials and properly designed experiments 145. On the other hand, several herb extracts have shown tissue repair properties along with antiviral, antibacterial effects 144,146 and honey has exhibited these properties in several studies thus making itself as a potential therapeutic for COVID-19. Therefore, it might be hypothesized that honey might be useful for COVID-19 patients by several major mechanisms; direct virucidal properties, regulating/boosting host immune signaling pathways, and curing and/or improving comorbid conditions. In addition, based on the previous results of several studies, honey may act as a preventive agent against hyper-
inflammation caused by SARS-CoV-2”
